Project Manager

Odyssey Controls, Inc.is seeking a PROJECT MANAGER with the experience necessary to make an immediate impact on active projects.  Our project scope and frequency is growing rapidly, and we afford candidates that display a combination of strong work ethic, technical skill and excellent customer focus the ability to develop a rewarding career.

Duties:

  • Overall responsibility for the successful planning and execution of a project.
  • Responsible for developing the Project Plan with input from the Project Team, and manages the team’s performance against assigned project tasks.
  • Responsible for ensuring that the Project Team completes the project.
  • Responsible for reviewing project resource needs if workload is greater than restricted work hours in a week.
  • Works within project scope and budget and immediately addresses/records any changes with customer.
  • Works with Accounting/Project Administrator to verify budget status and issues change orders based upon project changes.
  • Responsible for securing acceptance and approval of deliverables from the project sponsor and stakeholders.
  • Responsible for communication, including status reporting, risk management, escalation of issues that cannot be resolved in the Project Team.
  • Responsible for ensuring the project is delivered within budget, on schedule and within scope.
  • Responsible for accomplishing the project objectives within the constraints of the project.
  • Involved in the planning, controlling, monitoring, managing and directing the assigned project resources to best meet project objectives.
  • Analyzes and examines the organizational culture and determines whether project management is recognized as a valid role with accountability and authority for managing the project.
  • Collects metrics data (such as baseline, actual values for costs, schedule, work in progress, and work completed) and reports project progress and other project specific information to stakeholders.
  • Reports to Vice President, President, project stakeholders or others as required by the Project Plan.

The successful Project Manager candidate will possess the following:

  • BS in Engineering; Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, Process or Chemical Engineering considered.
  • Minimum ten (10) years’ experience managing complex system integration and construction projects within an industrial environment, at a level of responsibility equal to the duties specified above.
  • PMP certification highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of multiple control system platforms.
  • Understanding and ability to work with and from PFD, P&ID's.
  • Experience in programming various makes of PLC hardware.
  • Working ability in AutoCAD Electrical is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint, Visio and other presentation tools are required
  • Knowledgeable in UL508
  • The successful candidate will be a proven team leader that has a track record of successfully implementing best-practices to resolve customer issues, and mentoring team members for improvement and success.
  • Candidate will interact with a diverse group of professionals on a constant and on-going basis.  Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are a must.  Candidate must be comfortable using presentation tools to perform frequent presentations to a large group of project stakeholders.
  • Projects will be dynamic and the successful candidate must be able to think creatively and strategically, have excellent judgment and be able to work in a changing environment.
  • This position will require frequent travel to customer project sites for extended assignments, including immediate on-site project assignments in the Eastern U.S.

Education:

  • BS Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred, Process or Chemical Engineering considered.
