Pollution Abatement System - Study 1

Client:

A global Fortune 500 manufacturer that is a market leader in the production of key components used in many of the best known consumer electronics, as well as innovative products for telecommunications, life sciences and emission controls.

Assignment – Pollution Abatement System:

This customer operates a major production facility to keep pace with demand for its market leading products. As a responsible manufacturer, maintaining effective pollution abatement is critical for its expanding operations and production capability.

Odyssey Controls, Inc. designed and installed upgrades for significant portions of the pollution abatement control system and panels. This involved interfacing HMI displays and inputs from several of the production systems that rely on the pollution abatement system, as well as the numerous sub-systems such as cooling, compressed air, and particulate/chemical monitoring that are critical to its operation. These upgrades provide operators with more accurate and reliable feedback of the operation of the pollution abatement system. Greater control was achieved through the development of new ladder logic to support redundant equipment and the plant’s maintenance/calibration requirements.

Solution Components and Services:

  • System design/architecture
  • Project management
  • Custom control panel fabrication
  • PLC programming
  • Network design
  • SCADA configuration
  • Loop drawings
  • Start-up/commissioning
  • Final documentation

Results

This project provided the customer with more reliable control of their pollution abatement system and eliminated the need for constant engineering support during off hours. These capabilities not only protect the customer and manufacturing operations, but also help protect the environment by maintaining maximum efficiency of the pollution abatement system.
